Okay, here are a few Mother’s Day questions for you. Have you…
If you have done any of the above, then Happy Mother’s Day to you! Mother’s Day is a day to be celebrated, whether you have been a mother or not. It’s a day to remember our mothers or those who mothered us. As we read in Isaiah 66:13, “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you.” We are told to “honor our father and mother”, and we do this through remembering them. We can honor our mothers by speaking kindly to them, being there for them when they have needs, just as they were there for us. We can honor our mothers who have gone on to glory by continuing their work here on Earth. We are to live and love and share that love with others. I was blessed with a loving mother, and I remember Mother’s Day when I was a child. We would go outside out beside the house and cut red roses to proudly wear to church. I always felt sorry for my mom who wore the white rose of remembrance for her mom. You see, I never met my maternal grandmother. She passed rather young, and since I was the baby in the family, I didn’t get to meet her; but the stories about her that my mom passed along, help me to honor not only my mom, but my grandmother, too. So tell the stories. Pass along the love from the generations. Wear the white rose, if you choose. For me, I will wear bright colors and a smile as I think back on the women who have had a great influence on my life. I will remember the laughter, the joy, the fun times. So, honor those women who have held you, cried with you, laughed with you, given you advice, taught you the stories and songs about Jesus, and most of all, who have loved you. Strive to be like great women of the past, who have sacrificed themselves for the betterment of others. Mother’s Day is a day for celebration and joy. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. Mary Rowell
